Why most of drum manufacturers use acrylic tube not polycarbonate round tube ?
Polycarbonate pipes and tubes is more resistant against scratches and force compared to acrylic pipe.Why still most of drum manufacturers use acrylic perspex tube not polycarbonate plastic tube ?
There are some reasons that rigid polycarbonate tubing can not be used for drum：
1,Large polycarbonate tube is not such big diameter as acrylic plexiglass tube.Biggest polycarbonate tube sizes is 400mm.Bass drum size is 559mm.Acrylic tube sizes can be 1500mm diameter.Floor tom size is 16” diameter.It is easy to produce 16 inch acrylic cylinder tube.
There are some reasons that rigid polycarbonate tubing can not be used for drum：
2,There is no cast transparent polycarbonate tube.The drawing line on extruded polycarbonate tube is clear-viewed.Cast acrylic tube is polished to be shiny and no drawing lines.
3,Polycarbonate tube suppliers can not produce 8mm thick. 3mm thickness is very thick for clear lexan pipe.
4.Polycarbonate tube price is more expensive than acrylic tube price.
5,Colored polycarbonate tube is not much choose and requires big minimum order quantity.Colored acrylic tubes can be green,yellow,blue,black,red etc..
